letters to baby : twenty - twenty four weeks

We are now six months pregnant! Twenty - twenty four weeks has been incredible. I am full of energy and nesting-ness (more than usual), yet tired at the same time. Our baby girl is very active! I have been feeling her since after sixteen weeks and the last month has been even more predominant. Typically in the third trimester "they" say a mother starts to recognize a schedule the baby is on in regards to when they are asleep and when they are awake. At this stage they typically sleep fourteen hours a day. We are only in the second trimester but the last month has been a consistent daily schedule of her being very much awake from about eight at night until eight in the morning. I'll feel her here and there throughout the day but night time is her time to shine! It's like clockwork and very sureal!

We ended up deciding to find out the gender about a month before our twenty week ultrasound. That scan was incredible and we got so many great photos. It was very clear in both views that she was a girl! We did our gender reveal to our families over Christmas weekend. We did something different for each family. I posted some photos below of the gender reveal cake we had made for Mitch's family, for our Christmas eve pot luck. The beautiful and talented Jennifer Weston baked this delicious gem for us and was actually the first person to find out the gender!

Over the last couple months we have been undergoing a big renovation in our home. I will post the before an after photos of that on our Gable Oaks blog soon. The reno needed to be completed before she arrived and now it is finished! We are so happy with it and it completes the inside of our home. Needless to say we were moved out of our bedroom for a few months and all of our furniture was stored in the nursery and guest bedroom, so I was unable to nest in her room and get things together. Now that everything is back in it's place, I spend a lot of time in there! We are really organized with everything we have and what we need so we have just been getting all of her stuff ready to go. I posted a photo of her crib below and will post a final nursery blog post later once we have the change table/dresser.
