one route to the next

This past Wednesday we arrived at the clinic for our cycle review meeting. It was also the last day of my oral medication - yay!. We met with the patient coordinator in regards to finance, our doctor for lots of questions and the nurses for medication teaching. One of the nurses gave me the cutest little decoritive lady bug. She gives them to all of her patients and tells them that they bring babies. Adorable, thoughtful and so sweet I almost cried. I can't say enough wonderful things about my doctor and nurses. They are fantastic and go over anything we need to talk about without question. I emailed a question to my doctor a few days prior about the oxygen level in the lab that our embryos will be growing in (for lots of reasons) and my doctor, in the mean time, had gone to the lab herself to get the answers for us! Needless to say I am so thankful for the high quality lab that Hannam has!

We learned that our clinic, the Hannam Fertility Centre is a sister clinic/lab of the Colorado Centre for Reproductive Medicine, which is one of the most recognized clinics in North America for their technology, research and care. They are partners in the latest technology and research and share world class success rates. Super awesome.

During the medication teaching, the nurse wanted to watch me prick myself with a needle just to make sure I was comfortable with it. I have administered my own injections before intramuscularly in the deltoid for Twinrix so I knew I had this covered! The main injections I will be administering to myself are all subcutaneous, so essentially they are very tiny needles, like an insulin needle if you have ever seen one. Is it crazy that I am beyond excited for this part??? I think I am just SO ready for the stimulation and everything to start happening that this is just a means to an end...and exciting regardless of it being invasive.

At the end we took home some of the medical supplies for injections as well as information booklets, which really excite me. For real, my eyes light up when I see a pamphlet wall...

Monday, May 31, I will be back in the clinic between 0700-0830 for blood draw and ultrasound. I will also pick up my medication that day and start injections that night. From there on out I will be in the clinic during those hours pretty much every day for close monitoring. I've stocked up on seaweed snacks for the drive - addicted.
